We used Houzz as a tool to finding vet a remodeling contractor. The contractor we selected has received Best of Houzz Service awards for 4 consecutive years.

However, Creaive Spaces Remodeling does not even know what customer service means. We are in week 17 of an 8 week project and cannot get them to finish our job even though we have we have paid them well over $100K. The subcontractors are not being paid and refuse to finish. We reached out to Houzz, by they claim no responsibility and will not give us any information about how they "award" their badges.

They to,d us to submit reviews, which we have done, but because they are 1 star instead of 5, they do not seem to be willing to post them. Upon further investigation, it appears most of the reviews are fake or fabricated by the professionals that are trying to get business through the site.

Houzz even has videos explaining to professionals how to get awarded by using professional photography for uploads and sending out mass requests to get the people you want to post positive reviews. Total SCAM

Product or Service Mentioned: Houzz Construction Review Listing.

I have the same Problem they wont post any negative reviews for paying members ive complaiend and they still wont post them up... and even when it did post the owner contacted my wife hostility in the air there and then had it removed by SAD SAD

Totally agree - why would Houzz allow the public to post negative reviews on one of their paying customers? What a crock!

Same thing here.

If you are in CA, file a complaint with CSLB ( Contractor's State License Board) against the contracting company. Whether or not this contractor has a license; especially if he is unlicensed, the case may end up with a local District Attorney.

Houzz -- no doubt -- walks away unscathed, just as Thumbtack does.

Best wishes!

I agree and found this post searching for Houzz deleting negative reviews. Better than a class action where the lawyers get paid I whould hope for a VIce News ( of the like) report. Know anyone at the NYT?

I think someone should start a class action suit against them. They removed a negative review of a contractor. I suspect they allow their contractors with paid subscriptions to buy their way out of trouble.

I told them that was exactly what they are doing, and of course they denied it.
